Hi there! Today I will be sharing with you my favourite Healthy Energy Drink Alternatives 🙂 In today’s busy and stressful world it seems like we all have one thing in common: We all want to have more energy so we can get things done. There is one very common thing that most people on this planet look forward to in the morning and that is Coffee! Why? because they have it programmed in their mind that it will give them energy and help them wake up for the day.
So is Coffee one of your Healthy Energy Drink Alternatives? I personally drink at least 3 coffees per week. I believe coffee is healthy but only if I don’t add sugar to it. Once a week, I allow 1 tsp of sugar in my coffee just as a treat. Sugar causes inflammation in the body and also creates this vicious cycle, the more sugar you eat, the more sugar you crave.
Before I share with you my top picks for healthy energy drinks, let’s talk a bit about what makes us tired and lethargic and what we can do to increase energy naturally. I am sure you too can relate to most of the things I list below as to what makes us tired…
Why do we feel tired and lack energy?
There is no exact answer to this question because there are many different reasons as to why we may feel tired and lethargic. From my own experience I have noticed that the following things make me feel tired and drain the energy out of me:
- Eating a refined high carb meal such as pizza, bread, pastries, pasta
- Going to Bed late
- Eating sugar (chocolate, cakes, cookies, ice cream)
- Adrenal fatigue (caused by stress, thyroid issues, not enough sleep)
Things we can do to increase energy…
This is pretty straight forward if you think about the list above that causes us to feel tired and lack energy. If we learn to manage our stress naturally then that is one thing off the list of the things that make us feel tired. Managing stress is easier said than done but with daily practice it can be achieved.
Things to help reduce stress can be as simple as going for a walk, breathing exercises, meditating, yoga, listening to music, taking a 20 min nap (power nap), having a hot bath, etc. If you are someone like me that worries about everything, especially things we can’t contol, then you will have to learn to stop this worrying. Again, this is easier said than done, but it can be done if we focus.
A good question I ask myself when I worry is: Will it help the situation if I worry? The answer to that is always: No. So then I tell myself that it’s no use to worry as it won’t help me or the situation in any way. It is a waste of energy.
As I mentioned above, a high carbohydrate diet, as well as sugar, will make us feel tired and lethargic. Sugar may give us a kick of energy for a few minutes but then followed by tiredness, lack of energy. This brings me to Energy drinks available on the market today. They are loaded with sugar and are very unhealthy. You will feel a burst of energy after you consume these energy drinks but after it’s effects are gone, you will feel very tired and lethargic. Not to mention the damage all that sugar is doing to your liver and waistline.
Sleep is also very important and if you don’t sleep for at least 8 hrs per night, you will be tired and have no energy. You will be struggling throughout the day, then going to bed late again, then tired the next day and so on. It is a vicious cycle that can have serious consequences. I always make sure I sleep at least 8 hrs per night and I am in bed by 10pm. I take natural supplements that help me get a restful sleep at night and wake up refreshed.
Why Choose a Natural Energy Drink?
I choose natural energy drinks instead of energy drinks available on the market because they are not loaded with sugar and other unhealthy ingredients. Natural energy drinks will give me sustained energy throughout the day and will not overwork my adrenal glands.
The energy drinks available on the market are loaded with so much sugar and caffeine that it will overwhelm the liver and adrenal glands. This will result in Adrenal fatigue and a tired liver which leads to other complications over time such as liver cirrosis, fatty liver, etc. We know that when the liver is unwell, we will feel very tired and have no energy.
With natural energy drinks, you will not feel jittery and a ‘smack you in the face’ energy hit. You will just notice that you will be able to get things done in a healthy natural way and keep getting things done throughout the day. With unhealthy energy drinks, you start feeling jittery, shaky and you will have this energy where you just can’t sit still, you have to move or do something. However, this energy will not last throughout the day.
After a few hours you will feel very tired and will want to reach for another energy drink. You will also overwork your adrenal glands and liver. If you keep going this way, you will end up with adrenal fatigue which will lead to chronic fatigue. You will end up with fatty liver, liver cirrosis and other complications. With unhealthy energy drinks, you are literally forcing your body to over work itself. Sooner or later, your body will give up as it has no time to rest from all that caffeine and sugar.
Finally, my personal picks for natural energy drinks…
I drink drinks, teas, beverages that help increase my energy naturally on a daily basis. I exercise 5-6 days a week so I start my morning with some kind of drink/beverage/drink that will give me energy. After my morning exercise I continue my day with lots of cleaning, housework, cooking, learning new things, blogging, craft work, playing music and more.
As you can see I keep pretty active and I need energy to be able to do all the things I plan for each day. I love natural, clean products that do not harm my body or force my body into overworking itself. I am after natural energy that keeps going for the whole day and not just for 2-3 hours which then requires for another energy drink to get through the day.
I have a few favourites when it comes to natural energy drinks. teas, beverages and I will start with the one product that I have been using for the last 15 years. I love this tea so much that I have personally been drinking it for 15 years. Other natural energy drinks have become my favourites as well during the years. However, this is the one I drink every morning before my exercise.
This beverage is so easy and convenient. You can mix it in cold or hot water. It is available in 3 different flavours such as: Original, Peach and Cinnamon. I personally love the Peach flavour as you can see it pictured here to the left.
With ingredients such as Green tea, Orange pekoe extract, Cardamon seed extract, Hibiscus flower powder and sweetened with steviol clygosides, you have a natural beverage that will invigorate your your mind and give you natural, clean energy for at least 4 hours. I personally mix 1/2 teaspoon on Herbalife instant Herbal Beverage in 250ml cold filtered water.
Total sugars per serve in this product is 0g! Below you will see the ingredients list for Herbalife Instant Herbal Beverage – Peach Flavour:
My next favourite is the Herbalife Liftoff Energy Beverage/Drink. There are 2 flavours available such as Lemon-Lime Blast and Ignite-Me Orange. When you click on the link, there will be a drop-down menu on the right side of the product image where you can select your flavour.
This product contains ingredients such as Thiamine, Ribovlavin, Niacine, Vitamin B6, B12, Pantothenic Acid, Taurine, Inositol, Guarana extract, Inositol and sweeteners such as sucralose and acesulphame potassium. This product contains a total of 75mg of caffeine per serve.

My next favourite natural energy drink is the Arbonne Energy Fizz Sticks. They are available in the Citrus Flavour, Stawberry Flavour, Pomegranate Flavour and from time to time they bring in Limited Time flavours. For all the current flavours please Click here!
With ingredients such as Vitamin B3, B2, B6, B12, B5, Chromium, Ginseng, Taurine and caffeine from Guarana and Green Tea, you can be sure you will feel energised both mentally and physically. This product does contain cane sugar, sucrose and steviol glycosides. This product contains 55mg in total caffeine.
The directions on the pack says to mix 1 stick pack in 250ml of water. I find that it is too strong for me. Arbonne products are quite concentrated and it’s always best to start with half. Half a stick pack is 1 teaspoon. I measure 1 teaspoon of powder from the stick pack and mix it in 500ml water and sip on it during the afternoon. It is great to prevent those afternoon lows in energy that most of us experience. With the other half remaining in the stick pack, I roll the stick pack tight and put a bit of sticky tape to keep it fresh for the following day.

I hope I have given you some value in today’s post and hopefully you decide to ditch those unhealthy energy drinks and try my top picks in Natural Energy Drink Alternatives. As always, I always recommend products that I use myself and believe in. In my final attempt to lose weight I was drinking the Herbalife Instant herbal Beverage everyday before starting my morning exercise. It has helped me burn more calories while exercising and has given me the energy to keep exercising everyday. It has been a huge helping hand for me.
As I write in my book ‘My 18 Year Weight-loss Journey‘, I share what I did to finally reach my healthy goal weight. I share all my past struggles within the 18 years and how it’s affected my mental and physical health. I decided to write about my experience and struggles so that I can help others to finally reach their health and weight-loss goals. The best way to learn is from other people’s experiences and struggles as well as from your own experiences and struggles.
When you read about someone struggling to lose weight and battling with fat everyday, you will resonate with that person and learn from his/her experience. You will realise that you are not the only one because there are so many people around the world struggling with obesity and it’s negative effects on their mental and physical health. This is exactly why I decided to write about my journey and struggle and start this blog as well.
I also wrote a second book: My Natural Weight-loss Recipe. In this book I share the key ingredients to losing weight and keeping it off for good. Again, I share what I have learned from my own personal experience with the hope to help as many people as I can.
